I flatter myself that all of my Web pages show a certain
amount of attention to design, but here I'd like to highlight
the way my skills have evolved over time.
I'd begin with the site of the
Scottish Croquet
Association. I'm still quite pleased with that: however,
if I were designing it from scratch now, there are a few
things I would do differently.
The next site I'd like to highlight is my Web designer's
treasure
map. This started off life because I was occasionally
accessing the Web, and designing Web pages, at two different
computers, and I found it irritating that I couldn't access
my bookmarks if I was sitting at the wrong machine. I hit on
the idea of putting a list of my favourite Web sites on a Web
site, and this is it! I don't maintain it very often, but
still use it occasionally. This site was created at about the
time I began to be aware of HTML standards, cross-platform
compatibility, and validation.
My more recent designs are highly influenced by an awareness
of validation. These can be seen at my Demon site,
The Eponymous Grue,
and at a site I've put together for my Dad,
The Govan
Chairman.
